Pregnancy is a beautiful and transformative journey divided into three trimesters, each bringing its own unique developments and experiences. Our trimester chart helps you understand what to expect during each stage of your pregnancy.
Fertilization occurs, and the zygote begins to develop. It travels to the uterus and implants itself into the uterine lining. You may not notice any significant changes yet. Some women experience implantation bleeding or mild cramping. Start taking prenatal vitamins if you haven't already. Focus on a healthy diet and avoid harmful substances like alcohol and tobacco.
Your baby's heart starts beating, and major organs like the brain, lungs, and liver begin to form. The embryo is about the size of a raspberry. Hormonal changes may cause morning sickness, fatigue, and mood swings. Schedule your first prenatal appointment. Keep track of any symptoms and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
At week 13, your baby is now fully formed and is beginning to move more fluidly. The muscles and bones are continuing to grow and strengthen. Keep up with your prenatal appointments and discuss any concerns or questions with your healthcare provider. As you may start feeling better with reduced morning sickness, engage in light exercises like walking or prenatal yoga to stay active and boost your energy levels.
0.4kg - 2.0kg
At this stage, many women feel an increase in energy and a decrease in early pregnancy symptoms like nausea. However, some common issues might include back pain, round ligament pain, and mild swelling of the ankles and feet. Focus on maintaining a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients and staying hydrated. Regular, moderate exercise such as walking or prenatal yoga is beneficial for your physical and mental well-being. Continue with your prenatal vitamins and attend regular check-ups, including the anatomy scan to monitor your baby's development and health.
At 22 weeks, your baby is about the size of a papaya. You may feel stronger movements and notice some discomforts like backaches and swollen feet. To ease these, wear supportive shoes, elevate your feet, and use pillows to support your back and belly while sleeping. Gentle exercises like walking or prenatal yoga can help keep you comfortable. Stay hydrated and eat a balanced diet to support your health and your baby's growth. Regular prenatal visits remain important to monitor your progress and address any concerns.
At 27 weeks, engaging in regular exercise, including prenatal yoga, can be highly beneficial. Prenatal yoga helps improve flexibility, reduce stress, and alleviate common pregnancy discomforts such as back pain. Gentle poses and stretches can enhance circulation and prepare your body for labor. Complement yoga with other moderate exercises like walking or swimming to maintain overall fitness. Always listen to your body and avoid any activities that cause discomfort. Staying active not only supports your physical health but also boosts your mood and energy levels, contributing to a smoother pregnancy experience.

The baby is gaining weight rapidly and has more defined movements. Getting a good night's sleep can be challenging but is crucial for your health. To improve sleep quality, try sleeping on your left side with a pillow between your legs and one supporting your belly. This position enhances blood flow and reduces pressure on your back. Establish a calming bedtime routine, such as taking a warm bath or practicing relaxation techniques. Prioritizing restful sleep will help you feel more energized and better prepared for the weeks ahead.
At 36 weeks, relaxation is key as you prepare for your baby's arrival. Listening to soothing music can be an excellent way to unwind and reduce stress. Create a calming playlist of your favorite relaxing tunes and set aside time each day to sit or lie down, close your eyes, and enjoy the music. This practice can help lower your heart rate and promote a sense of calm. Incorporating music into your relaxation routine can improve your overall mood and provide a peaceful environment for both you and your baby as you approach the final weeks of pregnancy.
At 40 weeks, it's natural to feel a mix of excitement and anxiety as you await your baby's arrival. To help lower anxiety, practice deep breathing exercises and mindfulness techniques to stay calm and centered. Engage in light physical activity, such as walking, to release endorphins and reduce stress. Keep a positive mindset by focusing on the preparations you've made and the support system around you. Talking to friends, family, or a healthcare provider about your feelings can also provide reassurance. Remember, taking time for self-care and relaxation can help you feel more at ease as you prepare for labor and delivery.

I came here to consult Dr. Smita Gutgutia. She diagnosed a problem of mine correctly which was diagnosed wrongly by other doctors. I have trust her ever since and I am consulting her for my pregnancy currently. She is patient enough to listen and answer all my queries. The staff over here are kind and patient as well.
